Heidelberg
Today we went to Heidelberg to essentially freeze our asses off; it hovered around -4℃ for most of the day. It was very cold. We got to see the Heidelberg castle which was pretty amazing. The architecture and masonry was not only beautiful, but sturdy, considering how much of the castle is still intact. The churches were also very nice ,but most importantly they were warm. The most interesting part was the church with 2 doors that was once partitioned off to separate catholics and protestants. Eventually it was removed when they figured out it was ridiculous to do that. After that we roamed the city for 4 hours, spending most of it eating hot crepes or in a restaurant to avoid the cold. Soup and baked potato was great for warming up my insides. The waiters are all very polite and nice to Americans which is extremely refreshing. This country so far has been great for tourists. It would make sense for Heidelberg's restaurants and shops to speak a lot of English with the US military base right nearby. All in all it was fun and interesting but extremely extremely cold. Its definitely the coldest weather I've ever been in.
