Day 1

Day 1

Airport, Hotel, Frankfurt.

After a long day of travel, longer for some of the unlucky ones who's plane got a flat tire, we found ourselves in the ice cold climate of a German Winter. With temperatures hovering around 0℃ we San Diegan's were freezing. After dropping our stuff off a the hotel we explored the grounds, finding a beautiful frozen lake, and a playground. A swan landed on the frozen lake at one point as well which was beautiful to see. We then went to Frankfurt and were told some history of Germany and most interesting of all is how new the buildings there were because of the devastating bombings during World War 2. The Cathedral or church was also interesting; it's where the Germany first became a country, unifying the many Germanic states.

After that we had our free time and walked around downtown Frankfurt for 2 hours. It was cold and icy but quite beautiful. The streets were extremely clean and the food was cheap and good, unlike my experience in Spain. Today was a long travel day and not much else happened really. It was a fun, if cold, first day in Germany. It really is a beautiful place.
