Prague is the Capital of the Czech Republic. The city itself has a population of more than 1.2 million people. The city of Prague was founded near the end of the 9th century centered around the Vysehrad or High Castle. Later the Prague Castle was built on the opposite bank. Prague was a main trade route and as a result many Jewish traders passed through. The Old New Synagogue of 1270 was one of the first Gothic style buildings, and still stands today. It is also Europe's oldest active synagogues.
There are many interesting sights to see in Prague. Some that stand out to mere the Astronomical Clock, a clock that shows the moon and sun as well as other astronomical information. The Prague Castle, the biggest castle in the world that also contains St. Vitus Cathedral. The weirdest attraction they have is the Prague Metronome, a giant metronome overlooking the Vltava River. The Dancing house is another interesting attraction, with amazing modern architecture. Another spot with great modern architecture and shopping is Andel, a neighborhood . Its the busiest part of the city. A picturesque part of the city is the Charles bridge, location of battles, executions, and many floods. The last interesting location, in my opinion, is the Petrinska Rzhledna, a lookout tower that is 60 meters high and resembles the Eiffel Tower. It is only open on weekends during the winter, which happen to be the days we are in Prague.
January happens to be the coldest month on average. The average high temperature is 34 degrees F or 1 Degree Celsius, and the average low is 24 Degrees F, or -4 Degrees Celsius.
