Scene – This act takes place in a ditch created by artillery explosion. As the characters both run away from a artillery, they both fall into a ditch and a nearby tank is hit by an artillery shell. This causes the tank to cover the entrance, keeping both soldiers confined. They are both lightly wounded and have lost their weapons in the chaos. They are trapped with each other and have no choice but to sit and deal with each other. The German, who had lived in England for a few years, knew a little English and was able to talk with the English soldier. After many stories that are told to each other, they become friends and forget all about the war they were fighting minutes earlier. They lose their will to fight the war. Soon they are saved by an allied squad leader who kills the German, and then interrogates the British soldier, and then executes him for fraternizing with the enemy.
